New CPSC Law

If I understand the article I found at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission we who make handmade items for children may still be able to do so. As long as we do not use lead paint or re-use/sell things that have been recalled. At this point I believe that if you sew and use materials already on the market then you should be able to still sell said items. The exception is in the using of buttons and such that can cause choking hazards. The dolls that I make are either marked for age appropriateness or they are made carefully for smaller ages by using embroidered faces.

read the article and let me know how you understand it all.

It is so stupid. Can you say another excuse for parents to not be responsible for what they buy/let their children play with/keeping an eye on them? I am surprised any of us survived childhood. I love your dolls. They are lovely.

Kendra,
Thank you so much for your input :) When I first heard about this law I really let my anger fly ;( I have since calmed down-a bit-but it is stupid. Let us always legislate those morals now! Let us always keep our people from responsibility :( Grrr ;)
Anyway :) If I read the article correctly I think that I will be OK in selling my handmade dolls. I am a mother/granny so I do think about safety issues and I try not to create anything that I would not feel comfortable giving my own child.
Thanks again for your comment and have a great day with the Lord :)
Love you,
Sharon
